On the 12th of September more than 50 Global Health researchers from across the EUR gathered to learn and exchange about their latest research and teaching. During this Rotterdam Global Health Initiative (RGHI) Start of the Year Event, ten early career researchers presented their work at an interactive poster market, which was also popular among those passing by the open space on J7.
The event also featured an exciting presentation by Prof. Anna Vassall on her extensive experiences in applying HTA evidence for policy making in low- and middle-income countries. This was complemented with four short presentations given by faculty members from each of the institutes involved in the RGHI. The four presentations exploring a wide range of topics such as vaccinations, income support, and earthquakes highlights the variety of global health work that is conducted across Erasmus University.

PhD student Relmbuss Fanda (ESHPM) was awarded the RGHI Best Power Award 2023 for his work on essential medicines in Indonesia. Anandita Bardia, who recently started her PhD at the Erasmus School of Economics, was selected by the jury for the Runner Up Award 2023 for her study into the impact of conditional cash transfers in India. Prof. Maarten IJzerman, on behalf of the jury, made special mention of the work by Marieke Hartman (Erasmus University College) about the move from problem-based to case-based learning in Global Health Education.
