From 1 January 2018, Professor Hans Severens will take up the position of dean of Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM), formerly Institute of Health Policy & Management (iBMG), of Erasmus University Rotterdam. He will succeed Professor Werner Brouwer, who, after six years in this post, transfers the role of dean of ESHPM with great pleasure and in full confidence.
Hans Severens (1963) has been professor of evaluation in healthcare at ESHPM since 2009. He studied policy and management in health sciences at the University of Maastricht, and obtained his PhD at Radboud University in Nijmegen. Before being appointed at EUR, he was professor of MTA in Maastricht for 8 years. His research activities focus on the economic evaluation of medical technology, as part of clinical trials or as independent modelling studies. As well as his position at ESHPM, Hans will continue to be Vice-Chairman of the Health Council until the end of this year.
ESHPM is convinced that with Hans Severens, they have found an excellent successor to Werner Brouwer, who will continue to be associated with ESHPM as professor of health economics. In the coming period, ESHPM shall continue to work under direction of Hans Severens on the expansion of its excellent reputation and position, both nationally and abroad, in the field of education and research.
