eJournal is a digital portfolio platform that supports process-oriented learning, reflection and feedback over time. It allows you to guide students through structured assignments, recurring reflection moments and feedback activities in one environment, while making their development visible across a longer learning trajectory. You can create templates, organise deadlines, collect student work over time and follow progress through dashboards, while students build a portfolio that can include different file types and structured feedback activities.

Examples of use in your education

Use eJournal when students need one place to collect work, reflect on their progress, and develop a portfolio over a longer period.

You can apply this tool in your teaching in several concrete ways:

  • Personal portfolio - Ask students to build a personal portfolio in eJournal in which they collect drafts, final products and short reflections across several weeks or assignments.

  • Longer learning trajectories - Use eJournal in courses where students develop work over time, including project-based, practice-based or placement-related learning, so their materials, reflections and progress remain organised in one place.

  • Reflective entries - Add reflection prompts to portfolio activities so students do not only upload work, but also explain what they learned, what they changed, and what they would improve next.

  • Mixed file types - Use eJournal for assignments that require a broader portfolio format, for example when students need to upload design files, media products or other larger project materials alongside written reflections.

Tip 1

Use a simple template for recurring entries so students know what to upload each time and do not have to guess the expected structure.

Tip 2

Use recurring prompts or section headings for reflection entries, so students respond in a comparable way across the course and their development becomes easier to follow.

Use eJournal in placements, practice-based assignments or other supervised learning trajectories where students document experience and discuss progress with a teacher or supervisor.

You can apply this tool in your teaching in several concrete ways:

  • Structured practice documentation - Ask students to document relevant experiences, evidence and reflections in a structured journal during the placement or practice period.

  • Evidence-based supervision - Use portfolio entries as the basis for supervision conversations, so meetings focus on concrete examples from the student’s development rather than on general impressions alone.

Tip 1

Use supervision meetings to refer to specific portfolio entries, so feedback is grounded in documented experiences rather than in general impressions.

Tip 2

Ask students to update their journal or portfolio shortly before a supervision meeting, so the conversation is based on recent evidence and current questions.
