Osiris helps you manage official course administration and monitor student progress within one student information system. You can use it to check enrolments, register final grades, confirm participation and review study progress, so the administrative side of teaching remains aligned with the formal student record.

Examples of use in your education

Use Osiris when you need to confirm which students are officially enrolled in a course, assessment or group-based activity.

You can apply this tool in your teaching in several concrete ways:

  • Enrolment overview - Check in Osiris which students are officially registered for a course, exam or group-based activity before teaching or assessment takes place.

  • Participation checks - Use Osiris when you need to confirm who belongs to a particular teaching group or who is eligible to take part in a scheduled activity.

  • Formal participant list - Use Osiris-generated information when you need a formal participant overview rather than relying only on what is visible in the LMS.

Tip 1

Check enrolments at a few key moments in the block, especially before assessments or compulsory activities, so administrative surprises do not emerge too late.

Tip 2

Treat Osiris as the formal reference point when participation status matters, even if students are already visible in another system such as Canvas.

Use Osiris when you need to enter grades and make assessment outcomes part of the student’s official study record.

You can apply this tool in your teaching in several concrete ways:

  • Final grade entry - Enter and check final grades in Osiris so assessment outcomes become part of the student’s official study record, even when the marking process itself took place in another environment such as Canvas.

  • Assessment decisions - Use Osiris when formal decisions around resits, course completion or progression depend on recorded results.

  • Official record - Keep Osiris as the central place for official outcomes, so informal or intermediate grade overviews do not replace the final institutional record.

Tip 1

Make a clear distinction in your workflow between the environment in which you assess student work and the system in which the result becomes official, for example when marking takes place in Canvas but the final grade must still be entered in Osiris.

Tip 2

Double-check grades before final registration, especially when multiple assignments or calculations feed into one final outcome.

Use Osiris when you need to review student progress or confirm whether students are moving through their programme as expected.

You can apply this tool in your teaching in several concrete ways:

  • Progress monitoring - Use Osiris to review whether students have completed the required parts of a course or programme and how their results fit into broader study progress.

  • Programme confirmation - Check in Osiris whether students are formally participating in the right components when you need to confirm progression or follow-up decisions.

  • Advisor support - Use the system as a shared reference point when study advisers, programme managers or other staff need to review progress information alongside teaching staff.

  • Formal reporting - Rely on Osiris when progress information needs to be used for official reporting, requests or programme-level decision making.

Tip 1

Use Osiris for the formal progress picture and combine it with course-level information from your LMS and, where relevant, with conversations with students or study advisers when you need a fuller view of progress.

Tip 2

When students ask questions about official progress or registration status, check Osiris before giving guidance, so advice is based on the formal record.
