Kim Putters advocates a new social contract for healthcare

On 15 September Kim Putters delivered his inaugural lecture “Signed – Paving the way to a new social contract in healthcare”. In so doing, he formally accepted his endowed chair “Policy and governance of care in a changing welfare state” at Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam. In his inaugural lecture, Kim Putters explored and advocated the need to take a fresh look at the organisation of solidarity surrounding the social risks between the sick and the healthy and those on high incomes and those on lower incomes, in order to tackle social dissatisfaction and ensure that the basis of the system, i.e. the solidarity, is retained.

Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management
Per 1 September 2017 iBMG (institute of Health Policy & Management) has a new name: Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM). ESHPM has, over the past 35 years, developed from an educational program to a relevant and impactful part of Erasmus University Rotterdam. In education, research and valorisation in the field of health policy & management, home and abroad, with a unique multidisciplinary approach.   

 

Professor dr. Huibert Pols will remain as Rector Magnificus until the Institutional Quality Assurance Assessment has been completed

The Supervisory Board of Erasmus University Rotterdam has extended the period of appointment of Rector Magnificus Professor Huibert Pols until, at the latest, the day on which he attains emeritus status in July 2018. The recruitment process for his successor will commence in the near future. Rector Pols will, in any case remain until the Institutional Quality Assurance Assessment (ITK) has been completed (spring of 2018).

On Friday 30 June 2017 Job van Exel will publicly accept his appointment as Endowed Professor of Economics and Values at Erasmus School of Economics, on behalf of the Vereniging Trustfonds EUR. The title of his inaugural lecture is “Value(s)-based economics: On happiness, welfare and moral dilemmas”, but note that the lecture is in Dutch. Van Exel, who is also employed by the Institute of Health Policy & Management (iBMG), took up this part-time post at Erasmus School of Economics in March 2016.
