The study programme in a nutshell

Our curriculum enables you to understand and explore the legal implications of technological advancements. Within our Master Recht & Technologie, with specific emphasis on Governance, AI, and Legal Tech, we offer engaging perspectives. We delve into the potential of artificial intelligence for executing legal tasks, such as case preparation, and the possibility of AI-driven robots making decisions in public administration and judiciary. These data-driven technologies hold a promising future for the legal field.

Simultaneously, we challenge our students to think critically about the ethical and legal implications of these advancements. We raise questions about the legality of these developments and investigate whether and how they fit within the frameworks and legal norms cherished in our democratic rule of law.

In our master's program, we encourage a pragmatic, practice-oriented approach to technological capabilities. We assess what is feasible within various legal professions at reasonable costs, both financially and with consideration for our ecological footprint.

By engaging in the design of a technical application themselves, students are immersed in the core questions of our program.

The Master Recht & Technologie features a compact academic year, allowing you to graduate as early as May. Please note that this may entail a slightly heavier workload throughout the year compared to other master's programs.

Although the primary instruction language for the master’s programme is Dutch, we offer parts of the curriculum in English to emphasise the international dimension of technology and law. In addition to traditional legal methods, we incorporate design thinking practices.

The master's programme covers various themes, including AI, digitization, data protection, European regulation, consumer protection, digital platforms, Legal Tech, ethics, tech design, technology giants, cybersecurity, and resilience in the professional ethics of lawyers
