During this lunch session we would like to open the discussion on education and what the Recognition & Rewards initiative could mean related to education. For example, the evaluation of teaching and teaching-related activities and a differentiated career path with a focus on teaching.

Excelling in what you are good at. That is the direction we take with the new Recognition & Rewards initiative for academic staff. Less emphasis on the number of publications and more attention for performance in other core areas such as education, social impact and leadership. Recognition & Rewards has been high on the agenda in the Netherlands since the country’s knowledge institutions and research funding bodies (UNL, NFU, KNAW, NWO and ZonMw) published the joint position paper Room for everyone's talent: Towards a new balance in the recognition and rewards of academics (November, 2019). The main goal of the Recognition & Rewards initiative is to revise, or modernize, the current system for recognizing and rewarding academics. In line with this development, an EUR Recognition & Rewards framework has been published that describes the way in which we want to recognize and reward our academic staff.

So please join us at the Impact Lunch and let us talk about what the Recognition & Rewards initiative could mean for our education.

This Impact Lunch is part of the Impact Education Week.
