Building New Blocks

Widening participation in higher education by equity-based interventions
Zon op gevel Polak Building

The Academic Outreach Programme ‘Connecting Our Future’ aims to develop and implement evidence-based interventions that contribute to equal educational opportunities for (prospective and enrolled) students who are historically underrepresented in higher education, drawing on the diverse socioeconomic and cultural experiences, perspectives, and talents of these students. The target group of Connecting Out Future includes students with a migration background, students whose parents did not attend higher education, and students from low-income families.

In order to develop a solid base of ideas that can be institutionalized and scaled up within existing EUR structures, we invite the EUR community (EUR students and EUR staff) to apply for funding for their own projects through our grant application programme ‘Building New Blocks’. Projects can vary in size and duration but must be finished before the end of 2024. Funding will cover salary costs and material costs.

Application guidelines with requirements for project applications can be found below. Please read these guidelines carefully before sending in your application. Please note that a complete application consists of a project proposal and a budget, the templates for which can also be found below.

Applications should be sent to connectingourfuture@eur.nl with the title “Building New Blocks 2022”. Deadline for applications is September 30th, 2022, 17.00 PM (noon) Central European Time.
