Innovation contest Online Education

Best student proposals for the innovation of online education

The year 2020 was all about online education. That probably hasn’t escaped you! After the first measures last March, almost all forms of education were adapted to a digital form. This has required a lot of adaptability from both you and your teachers. Despite the fact that first steps have been taken, there is undoubtedly room for improvement. We believe that you have great ideas about this.

Therefore we ask you to think along with us. What is your innovative idea on how to improve digital education and assessment? Or how do you think we can enhance the social connections among students and between student and teachers in this digital age? Possible ideas include the development of e-modules, online videos, informative websites, quizzes, apps or games.

In order to reward your good ideas, we turned this into a contest. Join in and maybe your idea will be realized and implemented. Moreover, you have a chance of winning 100 euros for the best idea! Or 50 euros for the second and third place.

I’m in! What’s next?

  • Describe your proposal for an innovative idea on online education in a maximum of 1000 words. Use the criteria mentioned below as guidance. Try to be as specific and concrete as possible.
  • Submit your proposal before Sunday the 11th of April, 23:59 hours, through this link.
  • At the beginning of May the students with the best five proposals will be informed and invited to pitch their ideas in front of a jury.
  • After that, a final selection is made. If you belong to the top three, you will be rewarded with a price of 50 or 100 euros and we will try to realize your idea. If it is feasible, you will be involved in the implementation together with teachers and educational consultants.

Criteria for the proposals The jury will assess the proposals based on the following criteria:

  1. The proposal shows clear links with online education, blended learning, online assessment or online social connection.
  2. There is a clear description of the problem at hand and the severity of the problem.
  3. A solution is offered that has the intention of minimize or fix the problem.
  4. State how many students will benefit from your idea, and which study program and which year they are enrolled in.
  5. The solution is innovative, but simultaneously also sustainable; your solution should be applicable for at least 3 years (technically and with regard to content).
  6. The estimated costs are taken into account: these costs need to be proportional to the results. Your view on the estimated costs is highly appreciated, otherwise the jury will make an estimation.

We look forward to reading your proposals!
