Are you a medical or biomedical student looking to broaden your horizons through an international exchange experience? Erasmus MC strongly supports the internationalisation of education and research and welcomes a limited number of exchange students from partner institutions each year.
Located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Rotterdam, Erasmus MC is one of Europe's leading academic medical centres, offering excellent opportunities for research electives, clinical electives, and other educational activities. An exchange at Erasmus MC allows you to gain valuable international experience while studying in an innovative and highly ranked academic environment.
Who Can Apply?
Due to the high demand for placements and the limited number of available positions, Erasmus MC only accepts exchange students who:
- Are enrolled at one of Erasmus MC's partner universities;
- Participate through an official exchange programme, such as Erasmus+ or a formally established bilateral agreement;
- Have been officially nominated by their home university.
Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applications from students whose universities do not have a formal partnership agreement with Erasmus MC.

How to Apply
If your university has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or a bilateral exchange agreement with Erasmus MC, the exchange coordinator or International Office at your home institution should contact us directly to inquire about available exchange opportunities and formally nominate you.
Students applying through the Erasmus+ programme do not require a nomination from their home institution and may submit an application directly using the application form. Please ensure that you indicate the status of your Erasmus+ funding in your application.
