Throughout your studies, all kinds of job orientation and recruitment events take place at Erasmus University to help you find out more about yourself and the career opportunities out there, as well as to network with professionals from the field.

Study association ACE, for example, organises the ACE Career Days, the Erasmus Recruitment Days are open to all Erasmus students, and the EUR Career Services offer multiple workshops and activities to both Dutch and international students throughout the year.

Did you know that even after your graduation, you can make an appointment with the EUR Career Advisors to discover your interests and qualities? They are happy to help you until 1 year after graduation with all your questions regarding your preparation for the labour market! Or you can join one of their workshops to improve your job search strategies & skills.

The Nuffic portal Career in Holland will help you with everything you need to know to find & land a job in the Netherlands, from information about Dutch business culture and recruitment principles to more practicalities such as salary and taxation. 

There are also job boards that cater to internationals in the area, such as Up!Rotterdam and Work In Rotterdam The Hague.

Orientation year

When you are a non-EU/EEA graduate and would like to stay in the Netherlands after completion of your studies, you can apply for an ‘orientation year’ permit.  The orientation year grants you free access to the Dutch labour market, by offering employers benefits like not having to apply for a work permit for you and not having to adhere to the salary criterion. Within three years after completing your programme – bachelors, masters or PhD – you may apply for the orientation year. Read more about this option here.
