Below is a brief summary of the dissertation:

The thesis examines how maritime security interests should be administered when a shipping company becomes insolvent. Under the current state of the law, frictions arise from the interaction between maritime law’s ship-centred approach and the collective administration of all assets of the debtor under insolvency law. Given the pivotal role of shipping to global trade, these frictions can have serious economic and societal knock-on effects. Moreover, the most vulnerable participants in maritime trade, notably seafarers, are often disproportionally affected. The research analyses how these legal frictions can be mitigated in a manner in which modern cross-border insolvency

The public defence will begin exactly at 15.30 hrs. The doors will be closed once the public defence starts; latecomers may be able to watch on the screen outside. There is no possibility of entrance during the first part of the ceremony. Due to the solemn nature of the ceremony, we recommend that you do not take children under the age of 6 to the first part of the ceremony.
