The Hague, 26 August 2025 – Erasmus School of Law the Administrative Court of Appeal for Business (CBb) have officially sealed their cooperation. The agreement, signed by Prof. Harriët Schelhaas, dean of Erasmus School of Law, and Theo Simons, MA, LLM, president of the CBb, marks an important step in strengthening education and research in the field of administrative law, and especially in economic administrative law.
The cooperation stems from a shared focus on this area of law. Since the establishment of the chair Economic Administrative Law, since 2024 held by Prof. Pim Jansen, closer ties have developed between Erasmus School of Law and the CBb. Both share the conviction that dialogue between science and the judiciary is essential, particularly at the intersection of government, market and law. Based on this shared ambition, the first joint initiatives were quickly developed, such as the successful VAR moot court competition in May 2025.
Dean Harriët Schelhaas: “With the chair Economic Administrative Law, since 2024 held by Prof. Pim Jansen, we are giving administrative law – and economic administrative law in particular – a solid and permanent place in the education and research in Rotterdam. The collaboration with the CBb further reinforces this: it brings together academic reflection and the practice of the highest economic administrative court. This is reflected in our bachelor and master programmes and in the research projects we develop together.”
Students will continue to benefit greatly from this collaboration in the coming years. Starting this academic year, the CBb will offer an annual masterclass in the togamaster programme and welcome an intern.
