Franziska Weber completes Habilitation procedure

On Friday 26th February 2021, Dr Franziska Weber successfully completed the 'Habilitation procedure' at the University of Hamburg/Faculty of law, which qualifies her for a (German) professorship in law.

To this end, she delivered a colloquium on consent for data processing (entitled ”Die dogmatische Einordnung der datenschutzrechtlichen Einwilligung in das allgemeine Zivilrecht“). Prior to that the awarding commission had already lauded and approved the written manuscript of her in-depth comparative law and economics study of cartel damages in German, Dutch and Spanish competition law, with a particular focus on the volume effect ("Der Kartellschaden - eine rechtsvergleichende und rechtsökonomische Untersuchung unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Mengeneffekte entlang einer Kartellabsatzkette“). The Habilitation trajectory was supervised by Professor Astrid Stadler (Konstanz, former Chair of Comparative Mass Litigation at EUR) and Professor Marian Paschke (University of Hamburg).

Franziska obtained an impressive number of venia legendi, namely for Law & Economics, European Private law, Comparative law, German Civil and Civil Procedural law same as Economic law.
