On 10-11 June 2019, Dr Cheng Bian, academic researcher of ESL, and Ms Hongwei Dang, PhD candidate of ESL, attended the international conference at Queen Mary University of London.
Dr Cheng Bian gave his presentation on the EU Regulation screening foreign direct investment and its framework, rationale, and implications for Chinese investors. Ms Hongwei Dang addressed the issue of sustainable development provisions in international investment agreements.
The conference was a part of academic activities organized under the EUPLANT project, funded by Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Network of the European Commission. The conference covered multiple panels that addressed a wide range of topics, including EU-China relations, EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment, corporate law, criminal justice, competition law, the Belt and Road Initiative, and innovation and internet governance.
