Suzan Stoter

As of 1 January 2024, Prof. Suzan Stoter will become the new Dean of Leiden Law School at Leiden University. Stoter, who served as dean of Erasmus School of Law for nine years, is appointed in Leiden for a period of four years.

Since 1 July 2023, Suzan Stoter has been Interim Dean and Professor of Sociology of Law at the Leiden Law School of Leiden University and partly affiliated with Erasmus School of Law. She is looking forward to this new challenge: ''It is an honour for me to have been appointed as Dean. I will use the experience I have gained in collaboration with many great colleagues from Erasmus School of Law in Leiden, to further build the future of the Law School and the disciplines practiced within it, together with the School Board, academic directors, employees and students.’

In 2013, Professor Stoter was appointed the first female dean of Erasmus University Rotterdam. On January 1, 2022, she was succeeded as dean of Erasmus School of Law by Professor of Private Law, Harriët Schelhaas. Schelhaas is pleased with the appointment of her colleague and predecessor: 'Suzan has very extensive and broad administrative experience and stands for transparent leadership. I am convinced that she will fulfil her role as dean with gusto and that the Leiden Law School will benefit from her experience and expertise.  I look forward to our collaboration within various fora.'
