Prof. Yuwen Li (Erasmus School of Law) has been appointed as Ambassador for China by the Executive Board of Erasmus University Rotterdam. In consultation with the Executive Board, she will be developing a plan to further develop relations between Chinese institutions and EUR.
In her position as Ambassador for China, Prof. Li will advise the Executive Board and the faculties on collaboration with China, using her extensive expertise and network. She will also draw Chinese attention to the knowledge present within the Erasmus University. Furthermore, Yuwen Li is the contact person for the collaboration between the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus alliance and China.
Professor Li performs her role as ambassador in coordination with the Erasmus China Centre. She has been appointed for a period of three years.
Impact
By appointing an Ambassador for China, the Erasmus University is looking to further solidify its relationship with China regarding research and education in the coming years, in order to create (societal) impact). Impact is also a central theme in the new EUR strategy that is currently being developed.
The Erasmus University is already collaborating with various renowned Chinese universities. The collaboration with Peking University was renewed only last year. The collaboration agreement with Tsinghua University will be renewed this year. Moreover, the EUR has a lot of PhD, master and bachelor students.
About Prof. Yuwen Li
Prof. Yuwen Li is Professor of Chinese Law and Director of the Erasmus China Law Centre of the Erasmus School of Law. Her research focuses on international investment legislation in China, comparative investment legislation and international investment law. Furthermore, she is studying the Chinese judicial system as well as civil procedural law and administrative litigation law in China.
Prof. Li got her bachelor degree at the law faculty of Peking University in 1984, after which she moved to the Netherlands to complete her master degree at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS). Subsequently, she carried out her PhD research at Utrecht University. After obtaining her doctoral degree, she worked at Leiden University and Utrecht University as a lecturer and associate professor. She was appointed as a full professor at Erasmus University in 2011. She was also a member of the China Committee of the KNAW.
