April is the Month of Philosophy, with various events, like for instance the Night of Philosophy in many Dutch cities, including Rotterdam. But on April 1st, the CLI and the Erasmus School of Philosophy kickstart the Month of Philosophy with a full day filled with a lecture on the philosophy of innovative higher education, the launch of the first online course in metaphysics Reality Bites,  the launch of the co-creation video dictionary e-Bayle, and the presentation of the co-creation products of the Bachelor 1 students in epistemology.

Programme:

11h00-12h30: Central Problems in the Philosophy of Innovative Higher Education

In this lecture, CLI-fellow Tim De Mey (ESPhil) identifies the four most central problems in the philosophy of innovative higher education. He argues that the most pressing problem is the applicability gap, i.e., the gap between deep but narrow scientific puzzles and complex extra-scientific real-world problems. Subsequently, he outlines how philosophy can and should play a pivotal role in bridging the applicability gap.
