E-modules for Students Collaborating with External Partners

Are you designing a course in collaboration with societal partners, but your students have no prior experience with such a format? Do you want your students to become acquainted with impact-driven education and what to expect from these types of courses? Then these e-modules are exactly what you need. They contain key information students should know about how to successfully navigate a design project on a societal challenge in collaboration with external stakeholders.

The e-modules are interactive pdf’s which students can go through at their own pace and in their own time. The format is engaging and easy to follow. Each module is independent from one another, so you can use them as a pack or separately. For every e-module there is an in-class assignment that students can work on, for example, during a tutorial session. The goal of these assignments is to put in practice the knowledge they gained through the modules and to help them in their group project progress.

There are five modules:

  1. Impact-driven Education: A Partnership Between University and Society
  2. Involving Multiple Stakeholders to Address Societal Challenges
  3. Reciprocal Collaboration and Professional Communication with Stakeholders
  4. Module Ethical Values and Considerations When Collaborating with Stakeholders
  5. Module Using Design Thinking as a Tool for Creating Solutions with Stakeholders

These e-modules were developed by Dr. Crystal Smit, Assistant Professor at ESSB (project lead), and Denise Levy, learning innovator from Impact at the Core. You can find more information about the creation of these e-modules in this article.
