The collection of the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet is part of the cultural heritage of the city of Rotterdam. Its upkeep is no small matter. Apart from providing library services, the Leeskabinet aspires to be an independent initiator of knowledge transfer in the fields of culture and scholarly learning.
Regrettably, the membership fees alone do not suffice to realize these goals.
As an “institution for general benefit”, the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet Association has been granted ANBI status, which means that non-recurring and periodical gifts to the Association are tax-deductible (under current conditions). In the case of legacies, the Association is entitled to a higher inheritance tax-free allowance.
