Customized workshops

  • Information and academic skills
As a lecturer, do you want to make your students more information literate? Then request a workshop tailored to the needs of your group in terms of time, level and subjects. This can be about conducting a literature search, the phases of the search process, search techniques, but also an instruction on managing your data and monitoring research impact. As a researcher or student, you can of course also request a workshop with your own group.

  • Researcher identifiers & profiles
An ORCID iD offers you the possibility to present yourself and your publications well and make these more visible. That’s when a number has many advantages! The workshop offers you the possibility to be more visible as a unique researcher by creating your own ORCID iD, Google Scholar Profile and/or ResearcherID and checking your Scopus Author Identifier. Also check the related e-modules.

  • Python programming language
Learn just enough about the Python programming language to be able to write functions or small programs yourself. Then sign up for this workshop. Apart of an introduction to Python, you will explore parts of data science; using Pandas to read in csv files, cleaning and changing them and exploring the data using visualizations. Interested in this workshop? • How to communicate science to a lay audience?
The call for communicating science to a lay audience remains to be a hot topic. Unfortunately, there is typically little to no formal training available to help students improve their communication skills with a non-academic audience. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore the nature of different strategies in disseminating their research to a lay audience. Interested in this workshop (online or on location)? Contact Çisem GĂ¼rel, PhD.

E-learning

Short e-learning modules teach students and researchers how to use scholarly information and data effectively, responsibly and critically. The modules combine text, exercises and videos, which can be worked through separately. The topics follow the research cycle and can be consulted anywhere, anytime.

Lecturers can incorporate the modules into their Canvas courses or use them in your teaching to help students improve their information skills.
