The Executive Board has apologized to Professor Eva Illouz for withdrawing the invitation to speak at an academic seminar at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
The organizing team decided last month not to proceed with a small-scale academic seminar, which focused on the professor's work in sociology and communication, due to her affiliation with Hebrew University. Although Erasmus University Rotterdam froze institutional collaboration with this university in June this year, the university has not set any limits on faculties collaborating with scholars based on such affiliations.
Rector Magnificus Prof. Dr. Ir. Jantine Schuit offered apologies on behalf of the Executive Board in a personal conversation and via a letter.
