On Monday morning, 18 August, no fewer than 3,700 participants attended the official opening of Eurekaweek 2025 at Rotterdam Ahoy. During this week, first-year students are introduced to student life and shown everything Rotterdam has to offer.
This year's introduction week is themed "Unfold Your Future". The future lies wide open for all students, ready to be explored. Once again, a varied programme has been carefully put together to give new students a flying start to student life.

This year is the first time that the introduction week will last three days. Due to increased costs and necessary savings, the university has decided to shorten the introduction week this year.
Campus Day, tour of Rotterdam and Cantus
Although Eurekaweek is shorter, the programme is just as varied. From a campus day to the unforgettable festival to end the week. Traditionally, the Cantus is also on the programme – an event that has been a regular feature of Eurekaweek for many years. Thousands of students gather at Ahoy to sing, connect and experience a sense of brotherhood during the largest Cantus in the Netherlands.

Student wellbeing hosts are also available throughout the week to lend a listening ear to students who may feel overwhelmed by all the new impressions during this intensive week.
And to introduce new students to Rotterdam right away, the city is opening its doors with the Rotterdam Tour. Museums, exhibitions and other iconic locations are accessible free of charge especially for them.
A good start for all students
During Eurekaweek, students lay a solid foundation for their studies and their social life in Rotterdam. It is the beginning of a time full of new experiences and encounters. On 1 September, we warmly welcome all students to the Opening Academic Year, where we begin this new chapter together and officially kick off the 2025/2026 academic year.
