‘Incentive is no longer a dirty word’

In an interview with XpertHR Actueel, Willem Verbeke, Professor of Sales and Account Management at Erasmus School of Economics, is asked in what inventive ways talented employees can be recruited and retained. According to Verbeke ‘bonuses have a bad image and incentive has been a dirty word for years, but it is now beginning to change’.

‘Incentives must fit within the culture of an organization,’ says Verbeke. He therefore advises organizations to experiment with which incentives are best suited, in which HR can play a role.
