According to an analysis by recruitment agency Magnet.me, the Strategic Entrepreneurship master programme at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam is once again the study that employers most frequently target. The analysis, reported in the Dutch financial daily paper FD, shows that this programme, as was the case two years ago, tops the list of studies whose students and recent graduates are most often approached by employers. This underlines the programme’s relevance for the labour market.
According to Magnet.me’s ceo Laurens van Nues, this interest shows that employers are primarily looking for programmes in which strategy, entrepreneurship and organisational change are central. In his words: ''These are people who not only bring knowledge with them, but can also think about how to actually use new opportunities within an organisation.'' In the FD article, Strategic Entrepreneurship is mentioned as an example of such a programme, in which knowledge and application explicitly come together.
Combination of technology and business administration
The analysis further shows that study programmes combining technology and business administration are gaining ground. At the same time, programmes in data and analytics are less prominently targeted by companies and organisations than in previous years, although several master’s programmes in this field still appear in the top fifty.
It is striking that, according to Magnet.me, there are few visible shifts in programmes that focus solely on artificial intelligence. There is still only one explicit AI programme in the top fifty. According to Van Nues, this does not mean that technological expertise has become less relevant. ''AI is becoming less and less something that only technical specialists work with and more and more part of all kinds of functions within an organization. That makes the combination interesting.''
This interpretation reinforces the picture that employers are particularly interested in graduates who can position technology within a broader organisational context and learn to work with it in a strategic way.
