Migration Research Hub: Migration research under one roof, now online
IMISCOE, Europe’s largest network of scholars in migration and integration, is launching the Migration Research Hub. Based on a taxonomy developed as part of the H2020 CrossMigration research project, the Migration Research Hub collects research on migration and organizes it to be easily searchable and shareable, and its open access nature means that everyone can consult and add to the body of research. The project is led by Prof.dr. Peter Scholten of Erasmus University Rotterdam | Department of Public Administration and Sociology.
For the first time, information on publications, research projects, datasets and experts has been brought together in one fully-searchable database, underpinned by a taxonomy created and refined by experts in migration from a wide range of angles.
The Migration Research Hub stresses the collaborative and cross-disciplinary nature of migration research, and invites researchers in all related fields and disciplines to provide feedback and contributions towards a better and more useful research tool for all.
As Prof. Peter Scholten, Director of IMISCOE, said, “We want the Migration Research Hub to be inclusive and useful to all, so we are inviting all migration researchers to become part of the Hub, to make their research and projects accessible to the broader migration research community and foster the creation of new lines of research”.
The Migration Research Hub is a collaborative approach to knowledge management in migration research, led by IMISCOE.
IMISCOE is Europe's largest network of scholars in the area of migration and integration. The network involves 51 member institutes and over 700 scholars from all over Europe and focuses on comparative research, publications, the organization of events, PhD training and awards and communication. The network supports more than 30 research clusters and the IMISCOE annual conferences have become a key item in the agenda of most scholars in our field. Furthermore, the network publishes various book series (a Research Series and a Text Book Series) and the journal Comparative Migration Studies.
