The 2026 Open Access Deal with Oxford University Press (OUP) has now reached its limit. This only applies to their hybrid journals.
The 2026 cap for Open Access articles in hybrid journals covered by the institutional agreement with Oxford University Press (OUP) has been reached.
Authors whose articles are accepted between 15 September 2026 and 1 January 2027 can no longer publish Open Access under this agreement. Open Access publication remains possible, but authors will need to cover the Article Processing Charges (APCs) themselves or secure alternative funding.
Authors who do not have APC funding can publish under ‘closed access’ and make use of the Open Access Regulation. This allows articles to be made publicly available through our institutional repository after a six-month embargo period.
The Oxford University Press agreement has not reached its limit for fully Open Access journals. Earlier this year, we reported that several publisher agreements are expected to reach their caps before the end of the year.
