Hanh’s Experience with Hospi Housing

My name is Hanh, and I’m from Vietnam. I’m currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management. When I started looking for housing, I quickly realized that, because of my age, student houses were not an option. A friend warned me about the housing crisis, so I did some research and that’s how I found Hospi Housing.

Living with a host has been a truly positive experience. I enjoy it a lot because when you arrive in a new country, you don't know the culture, the way things work, or where to go. Having a host helps you adjust quickly. My hosts welcomed me warmly, showed me around the area, helped me navigate public transportation, and even assisted me when I got sick, which meant a lot.

I live with a couple whose sons have already moved out. They are very respectful of my privacy, though it did take some adjustment at first. Back home in Vietnam, it’s less common to share living spaces. Still, adapting was a small price to pay for the comfort, guidance, and community I gained.

There are so many practical benefits: living with a host is often more affordable, and you always have someone nearby to ask for advice or help. Sure, there are some house rules to follow, but I’ve found them to be very reasonable. One special moment that stands out was when I made traditional Vietnamese spring rolls for my host’s birthday. Sharing a piece of my culture with them was a fun and memorable experience.
