"When I applied for the exchange programme I listed Erasmus University as my first choice. I had never been to Europe before and I felt that once I would move to one of the European countries, I would get the chance to know the rich culture and history of this amazing continent.

Turns out I gained so much more than I expected! I found the people at the international office super friendly and helpful; I reserved the pick-up service before and they helped us to carry the luggage when we met in the airport and the bus dropped us right in front of the street where my apartment was located. I bet without the help from them it might be a bit difficult for me to reach my place. In addition to that, the various events organised by the faculty’s office provides great opportunities for us to know other exchange students, and I have made some really close friends from those events, with whom I still keep in contact till now. It is always good to know people from different cultural backgrounds! Culture shock can be quite challenging at times, but is also so precious…it opened my eyes, broadened my horizon, and also made me respect and understand people with different perspectives. I truly recommend everyone to go on exchange, and select Rotterdam as your exchange destination!" 

When you come to Rotterdam, here are some places to go!

• Witte de With: The best place to hang out with friends, with different types of restaurants and bars. You will definitely find the one you like!
• Parquit: An out-door cafe near Euromast, located in the middle of Rotterdam’s Het Park.
• Kralingse Bos: Have a picnic or take a walk there. It has a peaceful lake and adorable geese are everywhere.
• Erasmus Bridge: Go jogging or bike along the bridge, the best way to feel Rotterdam.
