Job description
As a (mid-level/senior) BI specialist, you are part of the RDIS BI team at RSM. You lead and support advanced data initiatives and you are a subject matter expert in your domain: education.
You drive the design of complex Power BI dashboards, develop advanced DAX calculations, and translate strategic goals into measurable KPIs. You proactively support decision-making processes and play a key role in defining data standards and structures. Your skills allow you to optimise queries and validate datasets. You’re often the go-to person for both technical troubleshooting and strategic insights.
Your responsibilities include:
- Designing and building Power BI dashboards with advanced DAX calculations (including optimisation)
- Developing and maintaining data models
- Collaborating with stakeholders to optimise data usage
- Validating datasets and building queries in SQL
- Supporting data governance and help define data standards
Job requirements
We would like you to have the following:
- A completed bachelor or master degree in data science, computer science, business analytics or a similar field;
- Four to seven years of relevant experience in BI roles;
- Strong command of Power BI (including advanced DAX and data architecture);
- Advanced SQL skills for handling complex queries;
- Experience with data governance, process design and automation;
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Certification, or you are willing to obtain one;
- Excellent analytical and communication skills; and
- Strong command of the Dutch and English language (CEFR C1).
Preferably, you also possess knowledge of or experience with ETL processes, data warehouse principles, HR/student/financial data domains, and experience in the field of higher education.

The start date of this position is 01-OCT-2025 and you will be based at [class.26087] in Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). This position is for 0.8 fte - 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 4,537 to a maximum of € 6,209 gross per month Scale 11 on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is offered for a period of 1 year and can be converted into an employment contract for an indefinite period if suitability is proven and if continued in the same position, if (financial and/or organisational) circumstances remain the same.

Department
As a Business Intelligence Specialist at RSM EUR, you are part of our growing BI team in the RSM Digitalisation & Information Services (RDIS) department. In addition to business consultancy, RDIS delivers research software engineering and consulting, customised software, and functional application support for RSM's business lines. Demand management, IT purchasing and ordering, information management and the privacy officer are also in this department. The whole team consists of approximately 22 staff members, and RDIS is known as a professional and caring department.
