No more disposable cups

Since 2024, employees will no longer receive disposable cups at coffee corners and coffee machines. Disposable cups cause a lot of CO2 emissions and plastic waste. That is why employees bring their own reusable cup.

Campus garden

Since 2019, Woudestein campus has a campus garden where vegetables and fruit are sustainably grown by employees and students. This campus garden is also home to campus bees, which students take care of together with a beekeeper from "Bee the change".

Energy and buildings

Our university runs entirely on renewable energy: all our energy is purchased sustainably from Dutch wind energy. For example, in 2021 the university purchased 17,500 megawatt hours of wind energy. This is equivalent to around eight wind turbines that operate for EUR all year round and supply sustainable electricity.

In addition, we generate energy ourselves on nine different roofs and more and more buildings are being connected to heat/cold storage.
