It wasn't until I started working in security that I realised how important good security is
Diana Kartojudo
Cyber Security Engineer
Diana Kartojudo has been working at Erasmus University Rotterdam for almost 30 years. When she started at the university in 1996, each faculty still had its own IT department. Diana has now been working as a Cyber Security Engineer at EDIS for almost three years.
'Since 2013, there has been one central IT department and since then, the lines of communication within the various IT departments have been shorter and the threshold for approaching someone has been lowered because all teams are mixed, which is very nice', says Diana.
'Hackers and malware try to penetrate 24/7'
'I worked as a software manager for a long time, where I naturally had to take security measures into account', says Diana. 'It was only when I started working in security that I realised how important good security is, because hackers and malware try to penetrate 24/7. That will only increase in the future, but fortunately we have taken good defensive measures.'
'It sometimes feels like a small village here'
'People are always surprised when they hear that I have been working here for so long', says Diana. 'But I think EUR is a great employer. There is a lot of room for your own input and people higher up have confidence in you and express their appreciation. There are opportunities to change departments within IT or to grow. And I think the campus is very nice and cozy. It sometimes feels like a small village here. I love to walk through Trompenburg during my break.'
