Introduction
As Project & Events Manager at the International Office, you are the driving force behind the International Office events. You organize events in an international context – for incoming and outgoing students, as well as for our international partners. You are the central point of contact for our events and take full responsibility for the organization from A to Z – from the initial concept to execution and evaluation.
Job description
As Project & Events Manager, you will organize impactful and inspiring projects and events related to internationalisation – from concept to implementation.
- You will coordinate and organise, among other things:
- Official Welcome for International Students - the festive start of the academic year for new international students
- Erasmus Goes Abroad Fair - a vibrant information market on studying and interning abroad
- Week of the International Experience - a week full of inspiration on gaining international experience, including the Connecting Cultures Festival and Scholarship Ceremony
- International Staff Weeks - during which you welcome and connect colleagues from around the world
- The International Office stand and sessions during EUR Open Days
- Events and meetings within our European networks EUF and UNIC
- You prepare project plans, scripts, and budgets and keep these up to date.
- You present plans and results convincingly and with flair – both on paper and on stage.
- You monitor the progress of projects, set priorities, and keep an overview, even under pressure.
- You measure the outcomes of the events and use these insights to improve future activities.
- You build and maintain a strong network of internal and external partners and actively seek creative collaborations.
- You stay curious and enjoy experimenting with new ideas, formats, and approaches.
- You coordinate and collaborate with your team members and support colleagues where and when needed.
Job requirements
You have experience in organizing events, are a great sparring partner, and don’t hesitate to roll up your sleeves. You easily adapt to different cultures, target groups, and unexpected situations.
You effortlessly switch between creative ideas and precise execution. You combine decisiveness with flexibility and know how to win people over with enthusiasm and a well-structured plan. You thrive in a dynamic environment where plans can change, and you manage to stay calm without losing sight of the end goal. Last-minute requests and unexpected changes don’t faze you - instead, you see them as challenges to be met with a sharp eye for detail and an open attitude.
For this role, the following competencies are essential:
Flexibility: You easily adapt to changing circumstances and different people, switch smoothly between tasks, and are open to new insights.
Results-oriented: You work towards goals, make clear agreements, and commit to achieving objectives on time and with quality, even when faced with challenges.
Stress resilience: You stay calm and perform effectively under pressure, maintain an overview in hectic situations, and recover quickly from setbacks.
Planning and organization: You set priorities, plan your work realistically, and anticipate changes to ensure projects run smoothly.
Progress monitoring: You keep a close eye on progress, schedule timely evaluation moments, and adjust when needed.
Inventiveness: You think creatively, break through established patterns, and experiment with innovative ideas and approaches.
Persuasiveness: You inspire others and gain support for your ideas by using appropriate arguments and communication styles.
Networking skills: You establish connections easily, maintain relationships, and actively use your network to initiate and strengthen collaborations.
For this role, excellent command of spoken and written English (C1 level) as well as Dutch proficiency (minimum B1, Intermediate level) is required. You must also be willing to occasionally work evenings or weekends, for instance during Open Days, and be available during (part of) the summer due to the summer peak.
Employment conditions and benefits
We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).
The start date of this position is 1 December 2025 (or earlier) and you will be based at the International Office, part of Education and Student Affairs (E&S). This position is for 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.708 to a maximum of € 5.057 gross per month Scale 9 on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is offered for a period of 1 year and can be converted into an employment contract for an indefinite period if suitability is proven and if continued in the same position, if (financial and/or organizational) circumstances remain the same.
