Dr. Joep Hofhuis is assistant professor at ESHCC’s Department of Media and Communication, where he specializes in intercultural and organizational communication. He was awarded a PhD in social and organizational psychology (University of Groningen, 2012), based on hisÂ research on cultural diversity in the workplace.
HisÂ research interests lie on the crossroads of communication science, organizational science and cross-cultural psychology. In his current research, he looks at the following questions:
1) What is the influence of (digital) media on individuals’ social identities, intercultural adaptation and diversity perceptions?
2) How do organizations communicate about cultural diversity and how does this affect their stakeholders?
3) How does intercultural communication relate to individual, team and organizational effectiveness?
Joep is a member of the International AssociationÂ of Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP) and the International AcademyÂ for Intercultural Research (IAIR).
At ESHCC, Joep teaches courses on Communication in Organizations and Intercultural Communication at Work. He is also involved in teaching academic skills and quantitative research methods, as well as in supervising Bachelor and Master theses.
