Biography
Joep Hofhuis is associated with ESHCC’s Department of Media and Communication, where he specializes in intercultural and organizational communication. He was awarded a PhD in social and organizational psychology (University of Groningen, 2012), based on his research on cultural diversity in the workplace.
Research
His academic interests lie on the crossroads of communication science, organizational science and cross-cultural psychology. In his current research, he investigates the following questions:
1) How do organizations communicate about cultural diversity and how does this affect their stakeholders?
2) How does intercultural communication competence relate to individual, team and organizational effectiveness?
3) What is the influence of (digital) media on individuals’ social identities, intercultural adaptation and diversity perceptions?
