Student for a Day

Experience what it's like to study

During Student for a Day, you will be introduced to the programme you are interested in. A trained student (called an ambassador) will show you what a day on campus looks like.

You will attend a lecture and/or seminar and get to know the campus through a campus tour. The ambassador will tell you all about his or her experiences and, of course, you can ask any questions you may have.

Online Student for a Day

Do you live far from Rotterdam? Or is it difficult for you to come to the campus? For English-taught programmes, there's also Online Student for a Day. The student ambassador will teach you more about the content of the programme through an in-depth assignment. Here too, there is room to ask all your questions!

How do I register for Student for a Day?

Student for a Days are posted online six weeks before the event. There is a maximum number of participants for each day. Once the maximum number of participants has been reached, the registration form will remain online for a while so that you can register for the reserve list. As soon as a place becomes available, you will be contacted by email.

If the form is not visible, the reserve list is unfortunately full and you can only register for another open day.
After you have registered, you will receive an automatic confirmation email. You will then receive an email two weeks before the open day to help you prepare, and another email six days before the event with the programme and all practical information.

How do you prepare for Student for a Day?

Student for a Day is a good way to see if the programme really suits you. It is important to prepare yourself well for a shadow day. Only then will you get a good idea of what the programme is like. Here are three tips:

  1. Complete the preparatory assignment or read the preparatory teaching material if this is provided in advance.

  2. Think in advance about the questions you want to ask the student and write them down so you don't forget them

  3. Make a list of what you consider important in a programme or student city. Write down questions that will help you determine whether the programme meets your criteria. Visit the Studiekeuze123 website for a list of sample questions

What is the difference between Student for a Day and a campus tour?

Sometimes it is not possible to attend an (online) Student for a Day, for example because you live abroad. For some programmes, it is possible to request an individual campus tour. A student ambassador will then show you around.

An individual campus tour is less in-depth than Student for a Day, because you will not attend any lectures or seminars. However, you will explore the campus together with the student and have the opportunity to ask all your questions. Requesting a campus tour is not possible for all programmes.
