What will you learn during the workshop Blogging for Academics?
As researchers, we often have to wait months to get our research out to the public through the journal publication process, and even then, it may not reach a very wide audience. But what if your research is something the general public might really enjoy reading about? This is where starting your own academic blog can really be a boon. It allows you to reach a wider audience and also helps you to find ways of explaining your research through a more popular style of writing.
This online workshop will show you some of the ways you can get started with blogging and also show you some tips and tricks on how to write about your research in an engaging way.
Result: After this workshop you will have a bit more insight into how to get your own blog started and where the best place is to publish (e.g. Medium vs Substack, vs Blogger vs Wordpress). You will also acquire valuable tips into how to write for the general public and how to transcribe difficult concepts into easier to understand text and images. Lastly, you'll see how AI may be able to help you with this process.
Target group: Researchers who want to reach a wider audience and write about their research in a way that appeals to the general public.
