Statutory tuition fee
The statutory tuition fee for 2027-2028 is € 2.771,-.
For EUC, an increased statutory fee of €6.000,- applies.
To be eligible for the statutory tuition fee, you must fulfil two conditions:
- You have an EEA, Swiss or Surinamese nationality. To find out if you meet the nationality requirement, you can use the DUO website. In addition to this requirement, you must also meet the following:
- You did not obtain an equivalent degree at a Dutch university or at a Dutch university of applied sciences after 31 August 1991. An exception applies to students who are going to study in the field of healthcare or education for the first time. After you have already obtained another degree, you may obtain one more degree in healthcare or one more degree in education. For more information, please contact the ESSC.
Institutional fee
If you do not meet both conditions, you pay the institutional fee. These fees vary per programme and per person. Below are listed all the EUR's institutional fees; for non-EEA students and for EEA students who will be following a second bachelor's or master's degree.
For a second bachelor’s or master’s degree, the institutional tuition rate applies, as the government only funds your first bachelor’s and your first master’s degree.
For other non-government-funded programs, such as executive programs and certain contract-based programs, different tuition rates apply. These programs do not receive government funding; therefore, the tuition rate is set by the program itself.
The current fees for these programs can be found on the webpage of the respective program.

More information about the tuition fees can be found in the Regulation on enrolment and tuition fees. You can also check our page Explanation tuition fees, for information about how tuition fees are determined and which exceptions apply.
Transitional Arrangement for Institutional Tuition Fees
Are you enrolled in a bachelor’s programme at ESE, ESHPM, ESHCC, ESL, ESPHIL or ESSB and paying the non-EEA institutional tuition fee? Then you may qualify for a transition scheme.
Under this scheme, you will pay the same tuition fee in 2027-2028 as in 2025-2026, with an inflation adjustment.
So in 2025-2026, the institutional fee for non-EEA students was €11,400, and if you re-enrol for the same programme in 2027-2028 without interruption, you will pay €12,100 instead of €14,700 for new enrolments.
Requirements:
- You were enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of your bachelor’s programme at one of the faculties listed above in 2025-2026.
- You pay the non-EEA institutional tuition fee.
- You re-enrol in 2027-2028 for the same programme.
- Your enrolment is uninterrupted.
The reduced tuition rate applies for a maximum of two consecutive years: 2026–2027 and 2027–2028.
** Tinbergen Institute Research Master in Economics and Research Master Business Data Science:
EER master students who have completed a master's degree at UvA, VU or EUR and enrol without interruption for this master as a second master's degree, pay the statutory fee.
Tuition fees are set per academic year. No rights can be derived from the information on this web page for the academic year in question or for future academic years.
