Involving citizens and patients in decision-making: forever in its infancy?

Runtime: January 2018 - July 2018
Client: National Healthcare Institute

Project description

The National Health Care institute wants to involve citizens and patients in coverage decisions, guideline development and the development of quality measurements. In this project we study how this can be done, focusing on both authorization (involving citizens and clients in the process of decision-making) and accountability (focusing on how the institute can give account of the decisions they make to citizens and patients).

We conduct a review of the literature and study several cases to show the complexities of involvement and offer ways to bring the discussion forward.
