Join us at the first Working conference on visualizations & law and discuss with other professionals how visuals work in the legal system. During two days, we will discuss general themes related to visualizations and law: the role of visualizations in law, how visuals actually work in the legal system and how they affect the people involved.

The working conference intends to result in a:

  • basis of an interdisciplinary (research) network
  • problem analysis
  • research agenda: an inventory of the most urgent and relevant research questions

The working conference will consist of a combination of short presentations with invited speakers, moderated discussions and roundtable activities.

On Thursday November 15th we will focus on visuals as (persuasive) evidence and illustration, incriminating images, cognitive biases and the principle of a fair trial, including  equality of arms and adversarial rights.

On Friday November 16th we will focus on visuals as comprehensible communication, legal design, visual legal communication and access to justice.

Who can participate? Researchers, professionals and practitioners with practical and/or academic experience and interest in visualizations and law are invited. Please note that space is limited.
