Introduction of Pieter Verrest for discussion between EU-member states about criminal law

On 31 May 2022 in Paris, Pieter Verrest, Professor of Criminal Law at Erasmus School of Law, invited by the French Presidency of the EU, gave an introduction for the discussion between the ministries of Justice of the EU Member States about the state of play of the judicial cooperation in criminal matters in the EU.

In his introduction, he focused on several subjects, including the European Investigation order, the European Arrest warrant, case law of the Court of Justice and ideas about new instruments for cooperation.

Verrest also used some data from the recent research project into the transfer of criminal proceedings in the EU that Erasmus School of Law conducted in collaboration with the Amsterdam Public Prosecution Service and the Bielefeld University.
