How much do you know about EUR’s energy transition plan that is soon to be implemented on campus? How will less fossil fuel usage change the student and staff’s on-campus experience and what can you do to help? Join us for a stimulating conversation in this series of Let’s Talk Sustainability: Energy, where we will discuss the topic of energy transition and consumption through various perspectives with academic experts, students, and the people who are actually in charge of creating change on campus!
Energy transition is in the papers every day, not only in relation to sustainability but also regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine. In this discussion we will talk about energy on campus, but also about private energy consumption and the complex political dimensions of energy transitions.
We start by introducing EUR’s energy transition plan for the university campus. The plan has been long in the making and takes into account all of the buildings on campus and their energy consumption. The implementation of this energy transition plan in the near future will allow EUR to be more energy efficient and use less fossil energy sources for campus services. Jan-Cees Jol, who is responsible for the sustainability of on-campus facilities, will further elaborate on this plan. In addition, Roel van Raak, business director at DRIFT (Dutch Research Institute For Transitions) will tell us more about the systemic transitions perspective on energy. Robbert Rog, chair of the University Council working group on Sustainability, will share what the university council thinks about the topic. Friso Roos, also a Student Council member, will moderate the discussion and ask some questions to speakers and participants in order to stimulate the conversation.
