The third edition of the Netherlands National Open Science Festival is about to get started! After last year’s successful event at the VU in Amsterdam, with over 300 visitors, this year the festival will be held at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Due to great demand and a specific outreach to researchers the total attendance is expected to be around 400 participants, who will be welcomed by moderators Esther van Rijswijk and Antonio Schettino.

Open Science or Open Scholarship stands for the transition to a new, more open and participatory way of conducting, publishing and evaluating scholarly research. Central to this concept is the goal of increasing cooperation and transparency in all research. Together they bring the motto of the Festival into practice: MEET | SHARE | INSPIRE | CARE.

Open Science in the Netherlands
In 25 community-led workshops and sessions, selected by the Festival’s Program Committee from a great many submissions, participants will exchange experiences and learn about the current state of affairs regarding Open Science. These will all be in-person, as only the plenary sessions and the double afternoon session Open Science Together, which will shed light on institutional, national and international policies and actions that shape Open Science in the Netherlands, will be livestreamed.
The details on each workshop, session or one of the 16 marketplace booths present at the festival can be found here. An overview of the presentations and use cases of the previous editions can instead be seen here (2022), here (Open Science Awards) and here (2021).
Lustrum Commissie
In the closing hours of the Festival there will be a mingle and meet session with food and beverage, generously sponsored by the Lustrum Commissie Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam.
