The digital reality does not respect legal boundaries. AI generates evidence, social media shapes public discourse, and young people are increasingly using technology - knowingly or unknowingly - to break the law. This presents fundamental questions for the rule of law: How do we protect legal equality in an age of algorithms? What does "free will" mean when behaviour is steered by platforms? And how can we, as legal professionals, helps shape this shifting landscape?

On Thursday, 18 September, we will open the 2025 legal year together with a program that invites both reflection and dialogue. A provocative opening by comedian Tim Hartog sets the tone. This is followed by a keynote lecture from Mr. Dr. M.Y. (Martien) Schaub, Associate Professor at Erasmus University and theme lead within the SSH-Breed sector plan. Through a panel discussion and debate, we will delve into the impact of AI and social media on the law, and the resilience of our legal system.
We will end with a networking reception, offering plenty of opportunity to exchange thoughts with peers on current and future challenges.
