Brief summary of the doctoral thesis:
Since the 1990s, technologies such as the Internet, cell phones, and self-driving cars have revolutionized society. Changes in demographics, urbanization, and the Covid-19 pandemic have contributed to these disruptions. Due to this, the market has become more volatile. In this unpredictable landscape, incumbent organizations with their well-established policies, procedures, and management practices. need to be agile, responsive, and innovative. Hence this makes it crucial to further investigate the following: How do established firms innovate? For this purpose, I conduct three studies that examine closer the non-technological drivers of a firm’s innovative behavior and the role ownership plays in a firm’s innovative strategies.
