Brief summary on the aim of the doctoral thesis:
The aim of this thesis is to provide a concise and complete overview of the evidence available for the use of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) in patients with end-stadium heart failure. Using this overview, some gaps of knowledge could be identified and consecutively this thesis addressed some of the frequently observed adverse events and its outcomes in order to improve patient management to prevent the adverse events or improve outcomes if they occur.

The public defence will begin exactly at 10.30 hrs. The doors will be closed once the public defence starts, latecomers may be able to watch on the screen outside. There is no possibility of entrance during the first part of the ceremony.
