On 16 August 2022, Dennis Penu will defend this PhD thesis looking at the social conflict outcomes of the 2018 regional reorganization in Ghana.

His focus is on a referendum held in 2018 which mandated the creation of six new subnational regions. He notes that the referendum process unfolded in either conflict or cooperation, with campaigns in some areas progressing without incident but violent clashes in others.

In his thesis, Penu investigates this contrast, basing his analysis on the social, political, cultural and economic content of Ghanaian society.
