Brief summary on the aim of the doctoral thesis:

This thesis consists of two parts. Part I of this thesis aims to explore possibilities to reduce the disease burden of patients with thyroid nodules and cancer. Part II aims to gain insight in the most common complication after thyroidectomy; hypoparathyroidism. By investigating de-escalating strategies in patients with thyroid nodules and cancer, and expanding the knowledge of post-thyroidectomy hypoparathyroidism, one could refine treatment and follow-up considerations.
