Below is a brief summary of the dissertation:
The progression of complex electrical conduction disorders, caused by atrial remodeling, is generally defined as electropathology, which facilitates both the initiation and perpetuation of atrial fibrillation (AF). We hypothesize by utilizing quantified electrophysiological parameters obtained from invasive cardiac mapping, such as potential voltage and morphology, a diagnostic tool can be developed to quantify the degree of AF-related electropathology. This tool can potentially stage AF, identify patients at high risk for developing (post-operative) AF, and guide ablation strategies for AF treatment.
