The conference will address different perspectives and aspects of the war and crisis. Various topics are discussed, such as geopolitics, international politics, political economy, history, media, as well as possible solutions and the role of and consequences for the Netherlands, the European Union, NATO and Eastern Europe. The event will give you a good and comprehensive overview of the political and historical context of the war and crisis. It also provides food for thought about the future of Europe. During and after the event there will be plenty of time for students to ask questions, discuss and network.

Some of the top speakers we can already announce are:
Prof. Dr. Markus Haverland: Professor of Political Science at Erasmus University. He is also a Fellow at the Montesquieu Institute (The Hague), the European Research Centre for Economic and Financial Governance (Leiden/Delft/Rotterdam), and the Netherlands School of Government. He will open the conference and give a welcome address on behalf of the university.
Kees Klompenhouwer: EUR alumnus, former Defense Counsellor to the Netherlands Permanent Representation to NATO and Ambassador for The Netherlands in Ukraine during 2013-2017 and with it the Euromaidan and the start of the war in Eastern Ukraine. He was also Ambassador for The Netherlands in the Czech Republic. Among other things, he will offer a social psychological perspective on Putin's leadership and speak about the Maidan popular uprising, the start of the war in 2014 and the Dutch consultative referendum on the Ukraine Association Agreement in 2016.
Ron Keller: Former Ambassador of The Netherlands in Russia, Moldavia, Ukraine and Turkey. Before becoming a top diplomat, he held several positions in the Ministry of Finance. He will discuss the period from the Orange Revolution in 2004 to the NATO summit in Bucharest in 2008.
Hugo Klijn: Historian, public administrator and Senior Research Fellow within the Security Unit of the Clingendael Institute, a prestigious research institute and think tank in The Netherlands. He held foreign postings in Moscow, Belgrade, Brussels (NATO) and Vienna (OSCE) before. He will tell about the current developments and place them in historical perspective.
