Do you have little or no experience abroad and are you curious to find out what it’s like to be an international student for a day? Then sign up for the day-trip excursion from Rotterdam to Liège, Belgium on 20 November 2026.
This unique opportunity will allow you to explore the University of Liège and participate in their UNIC Day – a moment for UNIC students to meet one another and discuss topics related to higher education challenges in Europe. The programme includes a campus tour, a city tour, participation in a UNIC Workshop focused on housing challenges for students, and a social activity with UNIC other students.
This excursion is supported by the A.A. van Beek-Fonds and is connected to the UNIC European University Alliance. The UNIC European University Alliance is a partnership of ten universities across Europe dedicated to creating new opportunities for learning, collaboration, and mobility. Through UNIC, EUR students can participate in a wide range of international experiences, including semester exchanges, summer schools, internships, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), and other short-term mobility opportunities. This is a one-day event where participants will travel to and from Liège in the same day.
Please note that the programme is subject to change. Final details will be shared with selected participants before departure.
Eligibility
- You have little or no previous experience studying, working, volunteering, or travelling abroad;
- You are fully available all day on Friday 20 November 2026;
- You have read and understood the event details, application process, and the deposit and cancellation policy;
- You are available to attend a pre-departure session before the excursion.
How to Apply
Places are limited and participation is competitive. To apply, please complete the registration form by Friday 30 October 2026. All applications will be reviewed after the deadline, and applicants will be notified of the outcome shortly thereafter.
We particularly encourage applications from students who have not previously had the opportunity to participate in an international experience.
Deposit and Cancellation Policy
Unfortunately, we have seen an increasing number of cancellations and no-shows for our events and activities. To help ensure that places are allocated fairly, we kindly ask that you only apply if you are committed to attending the excursion. Successful applicants will be required to pay a €15 deposit to confirm their place. This deposit will be fully refunded after the excursion, provided the student attends the programme in full. If unforeseen circumstances prevent you from participating, please inform us as soon as possible by emailing marisa.bachetti@eur.nl. This will allow us to offer your place to another interested student.
- Students must pay the €15 deposit by the specified deadline to secure their place. If the deposit is not received by the specified deadline, the place will be offered to another student.
- Students who cancel on or before 10 November 2026 may be eligible for a refund of their deposit.
- Students who cancel after 10 November 2026 will not receive a refund of their deposit unless exceptional or extenuating circumstances apply.
- Students who attend the excursion in full will receive a full refund of their €15 deposit following the completion of the programme.
